This is an exciting time for Weymouth & Portland. In 2012 the Borough will host the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events which will boost the profile of the Borough and offer opportunities to improve life in the area. The Partnership is committed to working as part of Team Dorset, with the Dorset Strategic Partnership, South West RDA and Olympic Delivery Authority as well as other agencies, to ensure that Weymouth & Portland maximise the advantages of this once in a lifetime event. The Partnership supports the “12 for 2012” points developed by the Dorset Strategic Partnership as a framework for action. The Weymouth & Portland Partnership has been nominated as the lead for the legacy point to: “Provide a stimulus to improvement in the social, cultural and economic fabric of Weymouth and Portland together with improving the supply of housing accommodation, including affordable housing.” The Partnership is committed to its role in helping to deliver this lasting legacy.
